How does CoolSculpting Work?

CoolSculpting utilizes a patented method called Cryolipolysis™; the use of precisely controlled cooling to remove fat.

After being cooled with CoolSculpting Elite, fat cells get so cold that they crystallize and die. Fat cells begin to die off at this temperature since they cannot carry out their normal functions or store any more fat. Eventually, your body will get rid of the dead cells, fat, and waste through its regular elimination processes.

What Happens During the CoolSculpting Procedure?

The number of sessions you will need to reach your goals will depend on several factors, including the area being treated, how much fat you want to lose, and how your body responds to treatment. Generally, patients can expect to undergo one to three sessions per area.

CoolSculpting can reduce up to 20 to 25 percent of fat cells in the treated area in one treatment. Once these fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good.

Typically, patients only experience mild side effects following their treatment, such as tenderness, swelling, or redness. However, rarely (less than 1% of the time), a complication called paradoxical fat hyperplasia can occur. While this condition is not medically harmful, it causes remaining fat cells to expand and can only be corrected with surgery.
